"As an African American woman, nothing has been more powerful than understanding my connection to this world --- my ancestral ties, my cultural connections, and my continuous appreciation in experiencing the beauty from which I come."
                -Melissa B. McKenzie

 Meet Our Founder & CEO

Melissa B. McKenzie, founded WE GO International to ensure the presence of more diverse voices in global humanity. Her goal is to equip more brown and black individuals to “live globally” ––lives enriched with global awareness, global perspectives, and global relationships.

Melissa spent twenty-five years at Hallmark Cards where she led and influenced multi-disciplined teams to develop innovative strategies and programs that inspire people and enhance their most meaningful relationships.

Connecting beyond boundaries is where she thrives. As CEO and Executive Director, Melissa McKenzie leads the organization in designing immersive experiences that reveal personal truths, embrace each other’s cultures, and unlock the transforming power of connectedness.

She began connecting with international communities in 2000. Since then, her passion to enrich underserved communities has taken her to over 10 countries across Africa, South America, and the Caribbean including Brazil, Haiti, Peru, Jamaica, Tanzania, Ghana and many more.

Her travels have revealed that everyone’s story is connected. Her motto in life –––EMBRACE. EMBOLDEN. EMPOWER. She believes in embracing individuals where they are and celebrating their unique gifts. She emboldens each person to pursue those talents as only they can. And she understands the responsibility and the blessing of empowering as many as she can to rise. Her passion is to uplift a generation of visionaries that are both locally and internationally-minded.

Melissa has partnered with several volunteer organizations over the years including Transformational Journeys, Global Orphan Project, A Broader View, Caribbean Missions, African Impact, Projects Abroad and GVI.

She lives an international experience everyday as she shares her life with her Jamaican-born husband, Francis Decosta in Kansas City, Missouri.
